Medianical Age: Drifting through the tides of time
Events & Interviews

Launch of Medianical Age - English edition (2025)
The Spanish edition of Medianical Age was first presented at the Literary Event Gladys M. Montolío in New York in the year 2023. Later, in 2024, the novel was featured at the VII LACUHE International Book Fair, also celebrated in the same city.
The English edition of the novel, Medianical Age: Drifting through the tides of time, was released on February 28, 2025, during a virtual launch event. This date was chosen to coincide with a rare astronomical event: a planetary alignment of seven planets, which will not occur again for 400 years. This is because the novel blends medieval and futuristic elements, with part of the story set in the Middle Ages and the rest in a distant future.

In previous presentations, I told about the writing process, the illustrations, the historical research behind the medieval setting, and the characters based on minority groups. This time, however, I focused more on the futuristic aspects and the science fiction genre that forms a key part of the novel.
Science Fiction Genre
Science fiction, alongside fantasy and horror, emerged in the 20th century as a genre exploring alternative realities and possible futures. It is often divided into two main types: one that focuses on future scientific and social advancements, and another based on speculative theories like time travel, interstellar journeys, and parallel universes. Medianical Age belongs to this second, more speculative category.
Science Fiction Elements in the Novel
The novel includes elements like futurism, time travel, and cyborgs. Technological advances in the future make time travel and cyborg creation possible. The title Medianical Age combines “medieval,” “age,” and “mechanical,” reflecting the story's dual settings—both in the Middle Ages and a mechanized future. An accidental alteration in the past leads to an alternative timeline known as the “Medianical Age.”
The novel also explores the "Sword and Planet" subgenre, blending science fiction with legends, fairy tales, and chivalric tales.
The Great Planetary Alignment
The universe and stars have long been a source of inspiration for science fiction. This is why February 28, 2025, was chosen as the release date. On this day, a planetary alignment involving seven planets—Saturn, Mercury, Neptune, Venus, Uranus, Jupiter, and Mars—took place. That day, we had the opportunity to see all these planets at the same time from Earth.
